Patagonia, refers to a specific region of South America straddling both Chile and Argentina. Patagonia which means 'land of the big feet' was discovered in 1520 by Ferdinand Magellan. Legends claims that Magellan and his crew saw a tribe of nine foot tall giants with big feet and so he names the tribe the Patagons or big feet.
