Steep paths and some
mountain scrambling. The route follows reasonable paths through
thick vegetation, up hillsides, across rocky areas, and slippery
shale surfaces. Due to higher levels of altitude, symptoms
of altitude sickness may be experienced.
MOUNT
KARASIMBI TREKKING
This
tour is normally done as an add on to the standard
Rwanda
Gorilla Tracking tour, but can be done on its own, on request.
ITINERARY - MT KARASIMBI ADD ON RWANDA.
Day One: After early breakfast you will be transferred to the point where we will meet your ranger guide and porters. The Karisimbi is the fifth highest mountain of Africa . The climb will start early in the morning and takes about 6 hours. You will climb further via the Bisoke side, before reaching the first stopping place at an altitude of 3.600 m. Overnight in tents/camping. (B/L/D)
Day Two: After early morning breakfast, we continue the hike towards the summit of Karisimbi volcano (4507m) for about 4 hours. Expect stunning
scenery and fascinating vegetation. Descent of the volcano will take approximately 6 hours. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you at the foothill and transfer you to the hotel for overnight. Dinner Overnight at Gorillas Nest Hotel. (B/L/D)
